If elected to the Seanad, my priorities would be:
A champion for Irish business
With my 30 years international business experience in New York, Hong Kong, London and Dublin, I will be a strong voice for business in the Oireachtas as we continue to build a fair, climate friendly and sustainable economy for all.
This is in the context of an increasingly precarious global economic outlook. If elected, I will use my position to help ensure that we protect multinational jobs and investment in Ireland.
An advocate for Trinity’s Ambition
I will be a forceful voice for Trinity in continuing to strengthen its global ranking.
We need to drive research infrastructure, support Trinity as Ireland’s leading innovation hub, leverage its business expertise for economic impact and build on Trinity’s UK & international relationships.

Empowering Young People with Intellectual Disabilities
When I started work with the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID), we had only four major Irish companies to employ our graduates - we now have 50 and growing.
This is now a world-leading programme and is transforming the lives of the students and their families. I want to see this model expanded nationally and to see real inclusion for everyone in university and beyond. If elected to the Seanad, I would use the platform to amplify this model nationally, and indeed internationally as we are seeing growing interest from overseas universities to learn from and replicate our model.

Hugo MacNeill
Dear Trinity Graduate,
For over 30 years, I have represented Irish business, sport, community and young people with intellectual disabilities and I can now represent you and your values in the Oireachtas.
For the past two decades, I have supported Ireland’s leading companies, advising and securing finance for their development, investment and job creation.
I want to bring this experience to the Seanad – fighting to ensure Ireland’s economy remains globally competitive, whilst building a fair, climate friendly and sustainable economy for all.
I’m proud to have spent all my adult life supporting North South and British Irish relations, chairing organisations like the Ireland Funds and the British Irish Association and organising the Peace International after the IRA bombing of Canary Wharf where the best rugby players in the world came to Dublin to play Ireland in the cause of Peace in 1996.
I’ve also been a lifelong advocate for Trinity. I want to promote an ambitious future for TCD: working to improve its global university ranking.
I will fight for increased investment for research (especially in STEM – ‘Science Technology Engineering Mathematics’).
Throughout my career, I have also campaigned for social justice – from taking a stand against Apartheid by refusing to play rugby for Ireland in Apartheid South Africa in 1981 to establishing GOAL (development agency) in Trinity and my ongoing work with The Ireland Funds.
I have also worked to promote the impactful and remarkable work of the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID) – helping young people with an intellectual disability gain employment with Irish & multinational businesses. I want to use the Seanad to build this world-leading model nationally and internationally
I will fight for a more equal, diverse and inclusive society for all.
I ask you for your Number 1 vote.
